A SPACE set with three-dimensional decals of the instrument panel and steel belts for the American version of the Brewster Buffalo, 1:48 scale. It is applied like a decal and comes across as a relief part.
Responsibility details are not available.
The SPACE range joins two technologies. The basis is formed by printed three-dimensional decals of the instrument panel and the side panels, which have genuine thickness and glossy glass on the dials. To these the manufacturer adds photo-etched restraint belts of steel. The result is applied like a decal, but on a model it looks like a separately manufactured part.
The squadrons of the Navy and the Marine Corps received F2A fighters at the turn of the 1930s and 1940s. The F2A-2 version had a more powerful engine and tends to be considered the most balanced form of the whole line. With carrier units it lasted only a short time, yet it remained a milestone: it was the first monoplane with retractable landing gear that the US Navy accepted into carrier service.
The surface has to be smooth and sprayed matte, and the molded relief of the instruments is sanded away beforehand. Do not immerse the decal in water: moisten only the backing paper under it, lift it off with tweezers and stick it down with white glue; do not use a decal softener, otherwise the printed layer will ripple. The steel belts go onto the seat only after everything else has dried.
The package holds sheets of decals and a small steel fret, but no plastic parts.
