HGW Masking Strips 3 mm — universal masking strips

Pre-cut masking strips 3 mm wide from the Czech maker HGW. This is neither a kit nor a mask set cut for one particular aircraft type — it is a universal aid that works on any model regardless of scale and subject. The strips lay out straight edges and transitions for spraying, mask stripes, trims and camouflage dividing lines, and bound off areas where wide tape would follow the shape badly. The main advantage over hand-cut tape is the constant width along the whole length: the transition comes out equally wide all over the model and you do not have to measure anything. The length and the number of strips in the package are stated on the box.

Use

• Apply the strip to paint that is perfectly dry and free of grease; fresh paint may lift when the strip is removed.
• Press the edge of the strip down with a finger or a blunt stick so that paint cannot creep underneath.
• Cover the rest of the area with ordinary masking tape or paper — the strip only defines the edge.
• Spray in thin coats and rather perpendicular to the edge than at a sharp angle; that limits bleeding.
• Peel the strip off shortly after the paint has flashed off, slowly and at a sharp angle back over itself.

For modelers who spray multicolor camouflage, warning or recognition stripes or divided trims and want the same transition width every time. It comes in handy on aircraft, ground vehicles and cars alike. A width of 3 mm suits larger scales and longer straight edges; for fine detail in small scales reach for a narrower version of the same range.

The package contains masking strips only. The model, paints, glue and any further masking material are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
