Sukhoi Su-17M3R 1:72 from Modelsvit: an injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet reconnaissance version of the fighter-bomber, with a variable-geometry wing and the KKR reconnaissance pod.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet reconnaissance fighter-bomber Su-17M3R in 1:72 scale from the Ukrainian firm Modelsvit. The model represents the version fitted with the KKR reconnaissance pod on the fuselage pylon. The package consists of injection-molded plastic sprues with finely engraved detail, clear parts for the canopy and a generous set of decals including technical markings.
The Su-17 was the first Soviet fighter-bomber with a variable-geometry wing: the outer wing panels pivoted and so changed both takeoff and flight characteristics. The M3 version was among the mature upgrades of the 1980s. The reconnaissance R variant carried the KKR pod with photographic and electronic reconnaissance equipment for coverage from low and medium altitude by day and by night. The type served with the Soviet Air Force and was also used in the conflict in Afghanistan for reconnaissance and for assessing the success of strikes.
Separate the parts with a sharp knife and glue them with liquid cement for plastic. It is best to finish the cockpit and the canopy before closing the fuselage; mask the glazing before painting. Apply a primer first and spray the opaque shades with an airbrush in thin coats. Assemble the stores and the reconnaissance pod separately. Pick out the engraved panel lines with a dark wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
