An Aires resin set in 1:48 scale containing detailed wheels and masking film for the American Vought F4U-5 Corsair carrier fighter. This is not an airplane model but an accessory for a plastic kit. The cast wheels replace the parts of the kit with a finer rendering, and the masks supplied make it easier to paint the tire and the rim cleanly.
The F4U-5 was a late development version of the famous Corsair carrier fighter, with its characteristic inverted gull wing. It was powered by a strong radial engine and, over the wartime versions, offered improved avionics and performance. Corsairs served among other things during the Korean War.
Wash the wheels to remove the mold release agent and cut off the casting blocks, then bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Stick the masking film onto the wheel, paint the tire and the rim separately and peel the mask off. A rendering with the weight of the tire cast in adds realism to the model.
This is a resin accessory for a kit. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
