A masking set from the O-max range from the Omask brand for a model of the American carrier fighter Vought F4U-1 Corsair in its early form with the canopy nicknamed Birdcage, in 1:48 scale. The densely framed sliding canopy, which gave this form of the Corsair the name of a bird cage, is among the most demanding masking areas a model of an aircraft can offer, and it is precisely for this version that the set is cut according to the name. The prepared templates will allow you to concentrate on the painting itself instead of hours spent with a knife and tape. The target kit is the Tamiya one.
The early F4U-1s with the Birdcage canopy went into the fighting at the beginning of 1943 over the Solomon Islands, where the Corsair quickly won the respect of its opponents. The characteristic inverted gull wing made it possible to use short and sturdy landing gear even with the giant diameter of the propeller. Later production blocks were given a raised cockpit canopy with a better view, so the framed bird cage stayed the recognition mark of the earliest machines, today much sought after among modelers.
Spray the naval camouflages of American machines from the lightest lower surfaces, and the transitions between fields can be left softer on them. Settle the templates on a polished surface or one treated with gloss varnish, as you will thereby lower the risk of paint running under the edges.
