The two-seat version of the F/A-18D Hornet served with the US Marine Corps not only for attack but for reconnaissance as well. For that task the machines received the ATARS suite, that is reconnaissance equipment housed in the nose of the fuselage. To make room for it, the space taken by the onboard cannon gave way; the sensors then look out through windows in the underside of the nose. From outside, a reconnaissance Hornet is therefore recognizable by exactly that differently arranged nose of the fuselage.

A conversion set changes part of a kit so that it matches a different configuration of the subject from the one the maker offers in the box. What exactly the package holds and which kit parts are replaced are given in the manufacturer's instructions; follow those as well, because with conversions the order of the work tends to matter more than on an ordinary build.
Cut surplus material away with a sharp blade a little clear of the part and sand off the remainder, and wash and degrease the parts before painting. Choose the glue according to the material given on the packaging. Always try a conversion dry first: lay the part against the fuselage, mark the extent of the work and only then cut. Run the cuts clear of a glued joint if possible, so that enough material is left for leveling. Mask the sensor windows in the nose when spraying and clean them up carefully, so that they stay smooth.
A conversion set is supplied. The kit of the aircraft, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
