The set replaces the cockpit of the FB-111 bomber with a separately cast resin assembly, to which three-dimensional decals for the instrument panels and the side consoles belong. According to the name this is the version matching the late modification of the cockpit. The accessory is cut for the Academy kit in 1:48 scale; a closely related set that does not name the target kit runs alongside it, so it is exactly this piece of information that lets you reach for the right variant.
The FB-111A came about as the bomber offshoot of the aircraft with a variable-geometry wing and served with the American strategic air force of the US Air Force. The two-man crew sat side by side in an escape capsule that detached from the fuselage as a whole in the last resort. The arrangement of two seats side by side, the wide instrument panel and the broken-up side consoles therefore belong among the most conspicuous things to be seen once the canopy is raised.
First wash the resin parts in lukewarm water with detergent, so that no release layer stays on the surface; the paint then holds far more readily. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine-toothed saw, level the faces and join them with cyanoacrylate glue. Before closing the fuselage, check dry whether the cockpit rubs anywhere against the inner walls. Apply the three-dimensional decals onto a dry gloss ground and do not use an aggressive softener on them.
