1:48 FM-1 Wildcat/Martlet Mk.V Big Ed - a combined package of Eduard upgrade sets for a model of the Wildcat carrier fighter in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit of the aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
This package from Eduard's Big Ed line is not a model of the aircraft but a collection of upgrade accessories. The bundle brings together several separate sets meant for a kit of the FM-1 Wildcat, or the British Martlet Mk.V, in 1:48 scale - all of it together in one place.
The FM-1 was a license-built Wildcat produced by General Motors so that Grumman could concentrate on the new Hellcat. It differed from the F4F-4 mainly in having four 12.7 mm machine guns with a larger ammunition supply. The Twin Wasp radial engine gave the robust machine a decent reserve of power for service on escort carriers. The Fleet Air Arm operated the type under the name Martlet Mk.V while escorting Atlantic convoys.
First plan out which parts will replace the plastic originals - the places concerned have to be reworked before gluing. Pick the small photo-etched items up with a dampened toothpick, and do not paint the colored parts; just glue them carefully in place with a drop of cyanoacrylate. Apply the masking material to a degreased canopy.
