A photo-etched metal set in 1:48 scale for a model of the FM-1 Wildcat carrier fighter, which in British service carried the designation Martlet Mk.V. The kit is not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
Responsibility details are not available.
The FM-1 is a later production rendition of the Wildcat carrier fighter. Even in this rendition the machine can be recognized by its stubby fuselage, its radial engine and the narrow landing gear retracted into the sides of the fuselage. In the equipment of the Fleet Air Arm these aircraft served under the designation Martlet Mk.V, which is what the qualifier British version in the name of the set is aimed at.
These are photo-etched metal parts in 1:48 scale from Eduard's production. Metal of a thickness a plastic part will never come close to makes it possible to produce thin edges, grilles and small protrusions so that they look right in scale. Which kit the set complements, and how the individual parts join onto the plastic, is stated in the manufacturer's instructions; follow them in the order of work as well.
Leave the fret whole until the moment you actually need a part; loose photo-etched parts get lost faster than anything else on the bench. Cut through the tab with a sharp blade against a hard base, and make the bends along the etched grooves. Where the etch replaces a plastic shape, first sand the original part off flat. It is bonded with cyanoacrylate glue applied with the tip of a wire, because even a small extra drop will flood the relief. Degrease the metal before painting and use a primer for metal, otherwise the paint does not hold and rubs off during handling.
The package contains a photo-etched fret. The kit, the paints, the glue and the decals are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
