1:48 FM-2 gun bays is a 3D printed set from Eduard with which you can build a model of the FM-2 Wildcat carrier fighter in 1:48 scale with the wing armament bays open. It is an add-on to a kit, not a stand-alone model.

An accessory set for a model of the FM-2 Wildcat in 1:48 scale. The printed parts replace the plastic moldings of the wing at the gun bays and make it possible to build the model with a bay open, in which the mounting of the machine guns, the ammunition boxes and the internal structure of the wing are visible. It is not an airplane kit but an add-on you use while building one.
The Wildcat carried its armament in the wings, outside the propeller disc; on the lightened FM-2 configuration the gun armament consisted of 12.7 mm machine guns, four of them on this type. The access panels above the bays were opened when ammunition was replenished and for maintenance, so a model with an exposed bay looks like an aircraft being prepared for another takeoff. It is a rewarding subject especially for a diorama on the deck of an escort carrier.
Separate the parts from the supports, wash them in lukewarm water with detergent and let them dry. They are bonded with super glue; cement for plastic has no effect on them. Cut the opening in the wing gradually and keep trying the seating, so that the panel does not have to be reglued in the end. Paint the inside of the bay before you close it with the surrounding parts; fine-tune the barrels and metal items with a dark metallic shade, and a fine wash will bring out the details. Protect your airways when sanding printed parts.
