A set from AMMO of Mig Jimenez depicting a modern American guided bomb in the 2000 lb class, and according to the name it offers four of them. It is ready for modelers who want to put together a faithful combat load of the last thirty years for their aircraft.
JDAM is not a bomb but a modular kit that turns an ordinary free-fall bomb into a weapon accurate to a few meters. A tail section with an inertial unit and a satellite navigation receiver is fitted to the body, and aerodynamic strakes are added along the sides. Before release the aircraft passes the coordinates of the target to the bomb and it flies to them on its own, regardless of cloud, smoke or night. The designation GBU-31 belongs to the largest, 2000 lb series. It is exactly this form with the BLU-109 warhead that is penetrating: the reinforced steel body is built to pass through concrete and explode only inside an underground shelter. The weapon was first used in combat at the end of the 1990s and bombers as well as tactical machines have carried it ever since.
The JDAM tail kits tend to be in a different shade from the bomb body itself, which is worth bringing out. Do not forget the bold contrasting bands and the stencils on the casing. Check the material of the parts before gluing and choose a suitable glue accordingly.
