A decal set in 1:48 scale for a model of the F-104 Starfighter in German service. The kit is not part of the delivery.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Lockheed F-104 Starfighter is an American supersonic aircraft of the 1950s with an unmistakable silhouette: a very short straight wing with a sharp leading edge, a long slender fuselage and the horizontal tail set right at the top of the fin. It came about as a light interceptor, but with European users it served mainly as a multirole and strike aircraft. West Germany used it in large numbers and its machines are among the most frequently modeled versions of the type.
Decal elements for a Starfighter model in 1:48 scale in German colors. Which particular machine and which scheme the set covers is described in the enclosed instructions, as are the number of options and the placement of the individual motifs on the model. The set is an accessory for a finished kit; before applying it, therefore, compare the size of the sheet with the shapes of the model you are building.
With decal sheets the wet method is the usual one, but before you soak the sheet, check in the instructions whether it is a self-adhesive version: a soaked self-adhesive film is ruined beyond recovery, whereas an unsoaked wet decal can be soaked later. With a wet decal the proven method applies: cut the motif out closely to the edge, lay it on a smooth glossy surface, help yourself with a softener and blot the surplus water away with a soft cloth. On matte varnish a decal silvers, so the area under the motif is overcoated with gloss varnish first and matted only at the end, over the finished decals.
The kit, the paints and decal chemicals are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
