This is a detail add-on set, not an aircraft kit. It replaces the production interior of the pilot's compartment with a more exact 3D-printed resin part and is made for models in 1:48. 3D printing allows fine items to be drawn out that will not fit into an injection mold: the tube frame structure, the controls, the seat belts or, indeed, the telescopic gun sight that the set is named after. The maker is the Czech company Eduard, which builds this line of resin add-ons as a direct replacement for the original parts.
The Grumman F4F Wildcat was a carrier fighter of the US Navy that formed the backbone of the fighter force at the start of the fighting in the Pacific. The F4F-3 version belonged to the early machines with fixed wings and a radial engine with a two-stage supercharger. It was the early examples that carried a telescopic gun sight running through the windshield, which a reflector type later replaced. Thanks to the high-set seat and the glazing, the cockpit of the Wildcat is clearly visible, so investing in it pays off.
Wash the resin and 3D-printed parts in lukewarm water with dish soap first, so that the surface takes paint. Cut the print supports off with a sharp knife or a fine saw and sand the remains down with your airways protected. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue, not with modeling cement for plastic. Apply a primer before painting, paint the interior with an airbrush and pull the detail out with a dry brush and a dark wash. Try the part dry before you close the fuselage, as replacement interiors sometimes need the inner walls of the fuselage adjusted.
This is an add-on set, not a model of the aircraft. The base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
