A set of masking pieces in kabuki paper for a model of the IA 58 Pucará in 1:48 scale, cut for the Kinetic K48078 kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The IA 58 Pucará is an Argentine twin-engine aircraft built for reconnaissance and for supporting ground units. The crew sits in tandem under extensive glazing, which on a model is one of the most demanding parts of painting. Strips cut by hand crumple on curved frames and paint creeps under them, which is exactly what a cut mask avoids.
Masking pieces cut from kabuki paper, that is from thin Japanese paper with a self-adhesive layer. The material conforms well to rounded shapes, can be lifted off without adhesive residue and does not damage dried paint. The set is worked up for one particular kit, whose part number is given in the name, so on other models the pieces may not fit. The EXPERT designation distinguishes one variant within the maker's range; the exact scope of the pieces is given in the instructions in the package.
Apply the masks onto a clean and degreased surface before spraying, not once the paint has dried. Lift the pieces off the backing sheet with pointed tweezers and press the edges down carefully, so that no paint runs underneath. Spray in thin layers, and rather twice than once heavily. Lift the mask while the finish is freshly dry; after longer the edge of the paint peels away with it. Pull it at an angle back across itself, not straight up.
The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
