A plastic kit model of the Japanese Mitsubishi A5M2b carrier fighter (Type 96, Allied code name Claude) in 1:48 scale from the Japanese firm FineMolds. The model captures the A5M2b version with the enclosed canopy. The package combines injection-molded plastic with several additional metal parts that refine the detail of the engine and the cockpit.
The Mitsubishi A5M was the first production carrier-based monoplane fighter in the world and the direct predecessor of the legendary A6M Zero. It stood out for fixed landing gear, an air-cooled radial engine and superb agility. It served with the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service above all in the second half of the 1930s and at the start of the war in the Pacific.
We recommend working with thin cement for plastic and dry-fitting the fuselage and the engine cowlings before gluing. Bond the metal parts with super glue. The typical finish of A5M machines used light shades on the airframe surface; the panel lines come out well after a light wash. It is a good idea to mask the cockpit glazing, and masks are not included in the package.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
