The set carries color parts for the cabin of a model of the Il-2 ground attack aircraft in 1:48 scale. The instrument panel, the side consoles and the other surfaces in the cabin are usually only raised relief without color in a kit, and painting them with a brush is a lengthy job. The parts in the set have their colors and their three-dimensional structure straight from the factory, so the cabin gains a legible look without fine detail painting. The result will be appreciated above all by anyone building a model with the canopy open, where the inside is permanently in view.
The part is cut out of the sheet, laid in lukewarm water for about fifteen seconds and slid off the backing paper into place. It has no adhesive layer of its own, so it holds on a surface gone over with gloss varnish, Future or Tamiya X-22 for example. Do not use a decal softener or a decal fixer, because they would attack the printed resin. Work with fine-tipped tweezers, bring the part up by one edge first and only then press it down from the center toward the edges; on a broken surface a drop of super glue helps. Apply them before closing the fuselage up, while there is free access to the cabin.
The Il-2 was a Soviet single-engine ground attack aircraft of the Second World War, built for attacks on ground targets. The forward part of the fuselage with the cabin was armored and formed a load-bearing shell, which shows on the machine in the shape of the area around the cabin. Models of this aircraft come out in 1:48 scale regularly and cabin accessories are a rewarding item for them.
