1:48 Kawanishi N1K2-J Shiden kai is a Dead Design masking set for painting the canopy glazing. It is an accessory for a model, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The item belongs among accessories, specifically masks for glazing. It is not an aircraft kit but a set of pre-cut self-adhesive templates for 1:48 scale that cover the clear areas of the cockpit while the frames are sprayed. Once the paint has been sprayed and has dried, the mask is peeled off and the glass stays clear.
The Kawanishi N1K2-J Shiden kai was a fighter of the Imperial Japanese Navy from the end of the Second World War. It came about by reworking an earlier design derived from a floatplane, with the new version getting a low-set wing and shorter, simpler landing gear. It was a fairly heavy and sturdy type with a radial engine and powerful cannon armament. The cockpit has glazing with several distinct frames, which in 1:48 make a prominent visible area.
The alternative to a pre-cut mask is a liquid masking medium or a tape technique. Both work, but the edge is only as straight as you guide it, and a liquid mask additionally pulls the border into waves as it dries. A pre-cut mask gives an edge your hand cannot spoil. The key is to spray thinly: two or three very light coats give the same coverage as one heavy one but do not form a ridge at the border that you can feel as a step once the mask is lifted.
This is an accessory for a model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
