An injection-molded plastic kit of the Japanese army fighter Nakajima Ki-43-II Hayabusa, nicknamed Oscar by the Allies, in 1:72 scale from Arma Hobby. It is a modern kit with fine surface detail and engraved panel lines. The box contains gray and clear plastic sprues, self-adhesive kabuki paper masks for the canopy and the wheels, and decals for several marking variants. Both versions of the exhausts typical of the early and mid production Ki-43-II are also included.
The Nakajima Ki-43 Hayabusa (falcon) was the most widely used fighter of the Japanese Army Air Force in the Second World War. It was powered by an air-cooled radial engine and became famous for its exceptional agility, to which its so-called combat flaps contributed. The II version received a more powerful engine, a revised wing and better protection for the pilot. Hayabusas fought on many battlefields of the Pacific and Southeast Asian region from the beginning of the war to its end.
Liquid cement for plastic is recommended; the locating pins make it easier to line the main parts up accurately. The kabuki masks supplied simplify spraying the canopy framing considerably. The surface comes into its own after a base primer and airbrushed paint, and a fine wash brings out the panel lines. Choose the marking variant and the matching type of exhausts before you start the build.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
