The set of masks 1:48 Kawasaki Ki-48-IIb Sokei National Insignias is for spraying the national insignia of the Japanese light bomber Ki-48.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set deals with a single thing, but the most visible one: the circular national insignia on the wings and the fuselage. When they are sprayed, the difference between a glossy film and matte camouflage disappears, and on Japanese machines that difference catches the eye most of all: their upper finishes tend to be heavily matte and the glossy outline of a decal cannot be missed on them.
The Ki-48 was a twin-engine light bomber of the Japanese Army Air Force, called Sokei for short at home and listed by the Allies under the name Lily. It was created as an answer to the fast Soviet bombers committed in China and its strength was agility. The second generation, to which the IIb version belongs, received more powerful engines and a modified airframe in order to keep pace with the rising speed of fighters. In the last year of the war the type was hopelessly obsolete and some of the machines ended up in suicide attacks.
For modelers who build Japanese hardware in matte shades and want the insignia to look like part of the finish. The templates are used while painting a finished structure. It is worth repeating the procedure on the lower wing surfaces too, where the insignia is just as conspicuous.
