A resin detail set, the Ki-61 Hien set in 1:48 scale from Aires. A detail accessory for experienced modelers, it is not an airplane model.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin detail set, not an airplane model. The set brings faithfully cast parts for improving the Japanese Kawasaki Ki-61 Hien fighter in the I version. The detail set lifts the look of a model above the plastic from the box thanks to finely cast features meant for a kit of this aircraft in 1:48 scale.
The Kawasaki Ki-61 Hien (swallow), known to the Allies by the code name Tony, was a Japanese fighter of the Second World War. As the only mass-produced Japanese fighter of its day it used a liquid-cooled inverted V12 engine, a licensed derivative of the German Daimler-Benz. Its slim fuselage gave the Ki-61 an unusual look, because of which the Allies at first took it for a European type.
First wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water and rid them of mold release residue. Cut the casting blocks off carefully with a saw and level the surfaces; wear a respirator when sanding resin, as the dust is harmful. They are bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate), not with ordinary cement for plastic. Lay down a base primer before painting.
This is a detail accessory, not a model. The base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
