This set from Quinta Studio is neither an interior nor a part but a decal sheet with strips imitating the tapes that on First World War aircraft were stuck over the ribs of the wing covering. The shade is magenta, that is one of the variants used on period machines. The tapes are printed to a constant width and in an even color, which is something that masking and spraying achieve only with great difficulty, especially in 1:48 scale.
On period structures the fabric covering of a wing was sewn to the ribs and the seams were taped over, which then formed regular lengthwise strips on the surface. On a model these strips are one of the main hallmarks of a biplane, because they run across the whole chord of the wing and govern how the surface looks. The D.I to D.V designation refers to the line of single-seat biplanes for whose wing dimensions the tapes are laid out.
First finish painting the wing, including any shades of the covering, and go over the surface with a gloss coat. Soak the tapes separately in lukewarm water only briefly and transfer them one after another, ideally from the wing root outward, so that the spacing comes out right. Watch the alignment against the engraved lines of the ribs while the tape can still be moved. A printed layer settles over the bulge of a rib more slowly than a classic decal, so press it down repeatedly and gently with a damp cotton bud. Do not use a decal softener or a decal fixer, as the chemicals attack the printed resin. Once dry, go over the whole surface with a matte coat so that the tapes do not look like stuck-on paper.
