New Ware EXPERT masking set — MiG-21F-13 and J-7A (1:48)

A set of precisely cut self-adhesive masks in kabuki tape from the Czech maker New Ware for a model of the early MiG-21F-13 fighter and its Chinese derivative, the J-7A, in 1:48 scale. The EXPERT grade is the most complete version: besides the canopy glazing with its frames it also covers the inner faces of the canopy and further parts beyond the basic set. It is not a kit and not a paint.

The real subject

The MiG-21 was a Soviet supersonic fighter, one of the most widespread jet aircraft in history. The F-13 version was one of the early ones, with a fixed circular intake and a sliding canopy; the Chinese J-7 was derived directly from it.

Use

• Apply the inner canopy masks first, paint the interior of the frames and then do the outer ones.
• The set also contains wheel masks and further clear parts.
• Spray thin coats and lift the mask off while the paint is still tacky.
• Kabuki tape follows curved shapes well and leaves no adhesive residue.
