A kit of the light Mil Mi-2 helicopter in the Mi-2RM configuration, that is, in the version associated with naval service, in 1:48 scale from the Polish manufacturer Mistercraft. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted and is intended for an ordinary build from plastic parts.
The Mi-2 is a light multipurpose helicopter powered by a pair of turboshaft engines above the cabin. The main rotor has three blades and the tail rotor is on the tail boom. The type came about at the turn of the 1950s and 1960s and was built in series under license in Poland. The basic airframe served in many configurations: transport and liaison, training, ambulance, police, agricultural and armed. The version designated Mi-2RM was adapted to operation in a maritime environment and to rescue tasks over water. The NATO code for the whole type is Hoplite.
Before gluing, put the parts together dry and check the seams, as with short-run molds light sanding tends to be needed. Glue the plastic with a thin cement for polystyrene. The interior of the cabin comes into its own through the large area of glazing, so finish and paint it before you close the fuselage up. Mask the glazing and fit it only after the basic camouflage has been sprayed. On machines operated over the sea a more pronounced surface fatigue of the paint and salt weathering commonly appear; choose the effect with moderation, though, so that the model does not come across as implausible. Apply the decals on a glossy base and finally even the surface out with a varnish according to the degree of gloss you want.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
