Note: this is not a model of an aircraft but a precise turned metal accessory from MASTER. The set contains a brass pitot tube in 1:48 scale for the MiG-21SM, MiG-21M and MiG-21MF variants (reporting name Fishbed J). The metal part replaces the soft plastic tube from the box and markedly improves both the realism and the durability of the finished model.

What it is for

The accessory is intended for building a model of the Soviet MiG-21 fighter (the SM/M/MF versions) in 1:48 scale. Turned brass allows a finer and dimensionally more accurate pointed tube than injection-molded plastic can manage and it is far more resistant to bending during handling.

Fitting

• The base of the original plastic tube is usually kept as a seat for the metal part.
• Cut any excess plastic away and drill a hole where the part will seat.
• Bond the metal tube with super glue (cyanoacrylate, CA).
• Degrease the parts before painting and apply a primer.
