Quickboost 1:48 MiG-23 FOD covers: resin air intake covers for the MiG-23 model in 1:48 scale, a faithful detail of a parked machine.
Responsibility details are not available.
Resin air intake covers from the Quickboost brand (a range of the Czech manufacturer Aires) for the model of the MiG-23 fighter in the most widespread scale of 1:48. Covers against drawing in foreign objects (FOD) are among the details that turn a merely built model into a captured moment, a machine after a day's flying, covered up and parked on the apron. Anyone can manage the fitting: the parts are simply cleaned, painted and glued on.
From the 1970s onwards the MiG-23 with its variable-geometry wing formed the backbone of the tactical fighter force of the USSR and its allies; it also flew with the Czechoslovak Air Force. The angular side air intakes with their bleed doors are one of the recognition features of the type, and when a machine was parked the ground crew protected them with prominent covers so that debris or small birds could not get into the intakes.
After washing off the mold release agent, separate the parts carefully from the casting block and sand the seating face so that the covers line up with the intakes. Paint them separately, usually in a deep red, and glue them to the model with a minimum of super glue only after the final clear coat. Light weathering with a dry brush will give the covers a used look.
This is an accessory set: the model of the airplane, the glue and the paints are not included in the package.
