Colored displays of the instrument fittings of the MiG-31BM in 1:48 scale, offered in the luminous rendition. The accessory is prepared for the QD48505 and QDS-48505 sets and for the kit of the Hobby Boss marque, so the shapes and the dimensions come from that model.
The elements are printed on a carrier decal paper. Cut the part out of the sheet, leave it in lukewarm water for about fifteen seconds and slide it off the paper onto the intended place, then press it down lightly with a cotton swab. It has no adhesive layer of its own and holds reliably on a gloss varnish of the Future or Klear and Tamiya X-22 type; on an intricate surface a drop of cyanoacrylate glue helps. Do not use a decal softener or a decal fixer, as the chemicals attack the printed resin. Paint the base, go over it with gloss and let it dry perfectly still before application, because under a seated element there is no painting any more. Work in good light and with tweezers with fine jaws; check the placing of the element from the side, so that it sits straight and beds down over its whole surface. Finish the whole cockpit before you close the fuselage and fit the glazing; later you will not get inside any more.
The MiG-31 is a heavy interceptor fighter with a crew of two sitting one behind the other; the BM version is its modernized rendition. The instrument fittings of the cockpits are well seen under the glazing of a model in 1:48 scale, and that is exactly why it pays to devote time to the interior.
The accessory is meant for modelers who are building the MiG-31 in 1:48 scale and want the instruments to be legible without laborious hand painting. The paints, the gloss varnish and the glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
