Mil Mi-24P 1:48 from Eduard is a set of pre-cut masking templates for the glazing of a model of the attack helicopter.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is one of Eduard's masking sets. The contents are pre-cut self-adhesive templates following the shape of the frames of the glazing and of the other surfaces that are to stay transparent after spraying. The modeler transfers them to the part with tweezers, presses them down and lifts them off once the paint has dried. That dispenses with the tedious cutting out of strips of masking tape and above all with the risk of a crooked edge on a curved shape.
The forward part of the machine has intricate glazing divided into two separate compartments placed in steps one behind the other. There are many frames, they are narrow and some of them break across a curve, so masking by hand takes more time than the whole rest of the build. Besides the frontal surfaces the machine has windows along the sides of the cargo compartment and smaller viewing panels, where the same problem repeats on a smaller scale.
First wash the clear part and let it dry thoroughly; grease from your fingers holds the template only seemingly, and when spraying, paint will get under it. Take the template by the edge with tweezers, seat it by one corner and only then press the rest down with a stick. Apply the paint in thin layers; a thick layer will create a ridge on the edge that will tear away when the mask is lifted. Lift the templates off while the paint is still freshly dried.
