The masking set 1:48 Mistel S1 BASIC from New Ware - kabuki masks in the basic grade for the Mistel S1 composite pair of aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory for the build, not a model. The set contains pre-cut self-adhesive masks of kabuki paper in 1:48 scale for the Mistel S1 combination. The BASIC grade is the basic level of the New Ware range. The particular list of masks is given in the instructions in the package.
The Mistel is not one aircraft but a composite pair: the twin-engine lower machine carries a single-seat fighter aircraft above it on a supporting structure. The S1 version is the training form of this combination. For a modeler it means that with one model he is building two airframes at the same time, and so masking the glazing of two entirely different types: the extensive glazed nose and cockpit of the lower machine with its dense framing and, on top of that, the small canopy of the upper fighter aircraft. Cutting by hand would take more time here than on an ordinary model, which is also why the extent of the work on this subject stands out within the range even in its basic grade.
On a model with two airframes, sort the masks beforehand according to which machine they belong to, so that you do not mix them up while sticking them on. Wash and degrease the clear parts. The framing of the densely glazed nose is the most demanding part: proceed in small sections and press the edges down thoroughly. Spray the paint thinly and in several coats; otherwise a step easily arises on intricate glazing. The recommended sequence is the shade of the interior and then the external color. Take the masks off with tweezers while the finish has not yet cured. Try the combination dry beforehand, including the supporting structure between the two machines, so that no gaps are left for you at the final assembly.
The set does not contain the model, paints or glue. Before buying, check that the masks match the kit you are building.
