An add-on photo-etched set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard in 1:48 scale intended for a model of the P-51H Mustang fighter. It holds parts of thin etched metal that replace or complement elements on the model which cannot be molded in plastic at the corresponding thickness. The set cannot be built on its own and is not an aircraft kit; it is an accessory that is glued into a plastic model.
The North American P-51H was the final development version of the famous Mustang. Compared with the better-known D version it was created as a lightened and aerodynamically cleaned-up design, recognizable by the taller vertical tail, the slightly different shape of the fuselage and the lower spine behind the cockpit. It took practically no part in the fighting of the Second World War and served in the postwar period, among other places with Air National Guard units. That is precisely why the P-51H is considerably rarer in the modeling range than the D version.
Separate the photo-etched parts with a sharp scalpel on glass or a hard surface, not with sprue cutters for plastic. The folds run along pre-pressed grooves and a bender will handle them precisely. Metal is glued with super glue, and on large areas an epoxy that gives you time to align things comes in handy. Do not forget the primer; paint does not hold on bare degreased metal and flakes off during handling. Always try the part dry before gluing and prepare the spot on the model; with photo-etch the plastic original is often sanded away so that the result does not outgrow the dimensions.
This is an add-on set, not a model kit. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
