Quickboost 1:48 P-40K Kittyhawk exhausts is a resin set of exhausts for a model of the American Curtiss P-40 fighter.
Responsibility details are not available.
This resin set from Quickboost, a brand of the Czech maker Aires, brings faithfully cast exhausts for a model of the American Curtiss P-40K Kittyhawk fighter in 1:48 scale. It is not an airplane model but a detail accessory for more experienced modelers, replacing the coarser plastic exhausts with a crisp casting with suggested openings.
The Curtiss P-40 was an American fighter of the Second World War powered by an Allison V12 engine. The name Kittyhawk was used by the aircraft in British Commonwealth service; the P-40K version had a V12 engine and a modified rear fuselage. The P-40 machines made their name in North Africa, in the Pacific and with the volunteer units in China.
First wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water to remove mold release residue. Cut off the casting blocks with a saw and sand the cut surfaces with respiratory protection. Bond the exhausts with super glue (cyanoacrylate) and bring them out with dark shades and pigments for a metal and soot effect. Test the fit dry before painting.
The set is supplied as a resin part, unassembled and unpainted. It is not an airplane model but an accessory for a plastic kit. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
