1:48 P-51B/P-51C Mustang bazooka rocket launcher is a resin accessory from Eduard with underwing rocket armament for the Mustang B and C versions. It serves to fit out a part-built model.
Responsibility details are not available.
The resin set adds tube rocket launchers slung under the wings to the Mustang B and C versions in 1:48 scale. In aviation terminology the English designation bazooka became established for the cylindrical launching tubes derived from the infantry anti-tank weapon. It is an armament accessory for a part-built model, not a kit of the aircraft.
The Mustangs with the Merlin engine made their name escorting bombers, but a number of squadrons used them against ground targets too. It was there that unguided rockets launched from tubes found their use, slung under the wings in groups of several. Against locomotives, truck convoys or light fortifications it was an effective weapon, albeit at the cost of higher drag and poorer flight performance. The installation was not the same with every unit, so before building it is worth finding a photograph of the particular machine.
Rinse the tubes once taken out of the packaging and clean up any gate remnants with a fine file. Symmetrical seating is essential: the launchers under both wing halves have to be at the same distance from the fuselage and at the same angle, otherwise the model visually loses its balance. It helps to mark the position out in pencil beforehand and to fix the parts first with a drop of glue. They are easier to paint before gluing; the joints are then only darkened down.
Without a base model of the aircraft this accessory has nothing to be attached to.
