An injection-molded plastic kit of the American North American P-51D Mustang fighter in 1:48 scale from Hobby Boss. The designation Mustang IV corresponds to the P-51D in British and Allied service. The model comes from a range with an easy build and an accurate fit of the parts, and it has a detailed cockpit, a clear canopy and a finely engraved surface. The exact contents of the box and the camouflage schemes are given in the instructions in the box.
The P-51D Mustang was one of the most successful fighters of the Second World War. The characteristic sliding bubble canopy gave the pilot an excellent view and six machine guns of 12.7 mm caliber provided heavy firepower. Thanks to the powerful Packard Merlin engine and its great range, which drop tanks extended still further, the Mustang could escort bombers deep over enemy territory. Under the British and Allied designation Mustang IV it served with squadrons of the Royal Air Force and of other Allied countries and became one of the icons of fighter aviation at the end of the war.
Pay attention to the cockpit — the seat, the instrument panel and the belts stand out when painted before the fuselage is closed up. Fit the bubble canopy only after painting and mask its frame beforehand. A natural metal finish looks best with metallic paints over a smoothed and glossy base; individual panels can be shaded slightly. Use a gloss clear coat under the decals. Fit the drop tanks and any underwing stores at the very end.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
