Miryoku 1:48 P-51D Mustang, double-sided masks are cut self-adhesive masks for the glazing of a model of the P-51D fighter. An accessory to a kit in 1:48 scale, not a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
A masking set for a model of the North American P-51D Mustang fighter in 1:48 scale. The masks are cut in advance to the shape of the areas of the glazing. The double-sided version allows for masking from the outer as well as the inner side, so the frames look right when you look into the cockpit too. On the Mustang that makes particular sense, because the bubble canopy of the D version is very clear and much of the interior is visible through it.
The P-51D was the most numerously built version of the North American P-51 Mustang fighter. It is told apart from the older versions by the bubble canopy with a lowered fuselage spine, which radically improved the view to the rear. It was powered by a Packard V12 engine built under license from the British Rolls-Royce Merlin. The combination of performance and long range made the Mustang the typical escort fighter of the closing stage of the Second World War.
Degrease the glazing, lay the mask on and press the edges with a toothpick. Spray the interior shade first and, once it has dried, the top covering color, both in thin coats. Because the canopy of the Mustang is very clear, it pays off to finish the interior before masking, since it will be visible through clean glazing. Peel the masks off with tweezers soon after the paint has dried, pulling them sideways. Any adhesive residue can be removed carefully with a cotton swab dampened with water.
This is an accessory to a model. The package holds no kit, no paints and no glue.
