This product is a photo-etched detail set from the Czech maker Eduard intended to improve the outside of a plastic model of the French multi-role fighter Dassault Rafale C in 1:48 scale. It is neither an aircraft model nor a kit but a set of fine metal parts that replace cruder plastic elements and add detail unattainable in injection-molded plastic.
Exterior photo-etched parts typically bring fine covers, grilles, sensors, projections, latches and other features of the airframe surface at a thickness correct for the scale. Once they are fitted, the model looks sharper and truer, especially in the areas where plastic is necessarily thicker than the real thing.
The parts are separated with a sharp knife or photo-etch shears and bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate). A photo-etch bending tool helps with clean bends. The metal parts are best degreased and given a coat of primer before painting, so that the paint holds well.
This is an accessory, not the model itself. The base kit, the glue and the paints are not included in the package.
