Rotol propeller (4 blade) 1:48 is a resin replacement four-blade propeller for models of the Spitfire and of other British aircraft driven by a Rotol propeller.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a precisely cast resin replacement propeller, not an airplane kit. The set contains a four-blade spinner and blades meant to be swapped for the parts from an ordinary plastic kit. Sharp leading edges, fine detail on the hub and a faithful blade section lift the look of the finished model markedly where the plastic propellers out of the mold are soft and coarse.
Rotol was a British company specializing in variable-pitch propellers. Four-blade versions appeared on the more powerful versions of the Supermarine Spitfire fighter with the Merlin engine as well as on other RAF types of the period. A faithful propeller is one of the elements that most affect the character of a model seen head-on.
First wash the parts free of the remains of the mold release agent, cut off the casting blocks carefully and sand the surfaces with respiratory protection. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). A primer is recommended before varnishing; the spinner and the blades come out once the color is on and the edges are lightly brought out.
The set serves as an accessory for a plastic kit. The base model, the glue and the paints are not included in the package.
