An injection-molded plastic kit of the German unpowered training glider SG-38 Schulgleiter in 1:48 scale from Special Hobby. It is a modern tooling completed with photo-etched parts and decals; this boxing carries German period training markings. The SG-38 Schulgleiter was a simple basic training glider - an unpowered aircraft without instruments, with an open framework structure, on which beginning pilots gained their first flying habits. It was launched with a bungee cord from a slope or by a winch. It came about in the 1930s and served in enormous numbers for basic flying training; whole generations of glider pilots flew it.
It is a small but fine model - glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic and the small photo-etched parts with super glue. The open framework structure means a lot of thin struts and wires: work carefully and count on adding the bracing wires for a faithful look. Combine wood and fabric with matte shades; after the decals, add fine wear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
