A photo-etched set of running gear side skirts for the Jagdtiger (Sd.Kfz. 186) in 1:48 scale from the Polish manufacturer Aber. An accessory for a kit, not a vehicle model.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of photo-etched parts to replace the running gear side skirts (Schürzen) on a model of the German Jagdtiger tank destroyer in 1:48 scale. It is not a vehicle kit but an accessory for a model you already have. Aber is a Polish manufacturer of fine photo-etch and turned parts. Check the exact number of parts against the illustration on the packaging.
The Sd.Kfz. 186 Jagdtiger was a German heavy tank destroyer from the end of the Second World War on the lengthened chassis of the Tiger II tank, armed with a 12.8 cm gun. Its side skirts over the running gear were thin sheet plates hung on simple brackets. Because they bent easily and often fell off in service, it is exactly these that make a rewarding detail: a metal version makes it possible to suggest a bend, a missing piece or a plate turned askew, which cannot be done with injection-molded plastic.
Degrease the parts and separate them with a sharp scalpel on a firm surface. Bend the brackets in a bender or between razor blades, always with a short, decisive movement. They are glued with super glue (cyanoacrylate) applied in a minimal quantity; plastic cement does not hold on metal. Fit the skirts only after the running gear has been assembled and painted, or you will not reach the tracks and wheels. Suggest deformation by pressing carefully with a round tool on a soft surface before gluing. Apply a primer suitable for metal before painting.
