A photo-etched set of parts for the model of the Sikorsky UH-60A helicopter in 1:48. Thin metal replaces the plastic parts where they are necessarily thicker than the real subject.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Sikorsky UH-60A is an American multirole helicopter that replaced older machines in the roles of troop transport, supply and casualty evacuation. It has a four-blade main rotor, a tail rotor set at a slant so that it also contributes to carrying the tail section, and a low fuselage that makes it easier to transport the machine in a cargo aircraft. The landing gear is wheeled, with main wheels by the fuselage and a smaller wheel under the tail boom. For long decades the machine became the backbone of the inventory and lived to see a whole series of further versions.
The set contains photo-etched metal parts intended for the UH-60A model in 1:48. Photo-etch suits exactly what is always too thick on a plastic part: thin sheets, grilles, eyes and straps. The scope of the set, the placement of the parts and any work on the plastic parts are described in the manufacturer's instructions, which are worth reading in full before the work starts, because some of the changes have to be made before the fuselage is glued together.
Cut the parts from the fret with a sharp blade on a hard surface, not by breaking them out. Make the bends along the marked grooves, in a bending tool or between the jaws of flat pliers. Use cyanoacrylate glue in a minute amount for joining, because excess is considerably harder to remove from metal than from plastic. Before painting, wash the metal, degrease it and go over it with a primer.
This is a supplementary set for a model, not a kit. Paints, glue, tools and the kit itself are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
