Engine for the Spitfire Mk.V, 1:48 (Eduard Brassin) is a resin detail set that replaces the simplified engine of the plastic kit with a faithful replica of the powerplant.
Responsibility details are not available.
This resin detail set of the Brassin range from the Czech manufacturer Eduard brings a precisely cast engine for models of the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.V fighter in 1:48 scale. The set makes an opened-up engine bay with a high level of detail possible. It is not a standalone aircraft model but an addition to a base kit.
The package contains resin parts of the engine and of the engine bay equipment; depending on the version, variants of the exhausts and the cowlings are usually included. The real subject is the Rolls-Royce Merlin V12, which gave the Spitfire Mk.V its characteristic sound and performance during the key years of the Second World War.
Resin is meant for more advanced modelers. First wash the mold release residue off the parts, cut them from the casting blocks carefully and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Wear respiratory protection while sanding. The engine comes out well with careful highlighting, metallic shades and a light wash; an opened-up bay can be completed with wiring and hoses.
This is a resin detail add-on set, not a complete model. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted; glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
