An Eduard photo-etched set for a model of the Sukhoi Su-27 fighter in 1:48 scale. The metal parts replace simplified shapes in plastic.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Su-27 is a heavy Soviet fighter, which in the West came to be known by the reporting name Flanker. It is a large machine with a markedly shaped fuselage, extensive flying surfaces and a pair of vertical tail surfaces. In 1:48 scale the model comes out impressively large, and the larger a model is, the more you can see on it where plastic is not enough: grilles, sensors, small panels and thin edges look heavier to the eye than they should.
The set brings photo-etched metal parts in 1:48 scale for a Su-27 model. Etched metal is made by etching a pattern into thin sheet, so the resulting parts are genuinely thin and the edges stay sharp. What is binding is the manufacturer's instructions, which also determine where each part is seated on the model.
Separate the parts from the etched fret with a sharp blade on a hard surface and level the remains of the tabs with a fine file. For the bends have a bending tool ready, or use the sharp edge of a rule and press evenly along the whole length. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue, which you apply in a minute drop, ideally with the tip of a wire; any excess would flood the detail. On large areas prefer a two-part adhesive, because it leaves time to line things up. Degrease the metal before painting and spray it with a base coat intended for metal, otherwise the layer of paint will flake off at the first handling.
The kit of the aircraft, paints, a base coat and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
