Eduard 1:48 Supermarine Spitfire F Mk.XVIII TFace — a double-sided masking set holds templates for the outer as well as the inner side of the glazing. The colored cockpit frame then sits right from the outside and from the inside.
Responsibility details are not available.
A masking set for a model of the late Spitfire in 1:48 scale, made as double-sided. The TFace designation means that the package holds templates not only for the outer surface of the glazing but for its inner side as well. You can therefore paint the cockpit frames in the camouflage shade from the outside and in the interior shade from the inside, without having to add anything laboriously. It is not a photo-etched set, it is an aid for painting.
The Spitfire F Mk.XVIII closes the development line of the type with the Griffon engine. It had a strengthened wing and landing gear and a modified fuel system; it was fielded mainly in the postwar period. The bubble canopy has a prominent frame, which is clearly visible on a model in 1:48 — and it is precisely on that frame that the difference between single-sided and double-sided masking tells the most.
Proceed from the back: first stick the inner masks on, spray the interior shade and let it dry. Only then does the outer set come, and the top camouflage. The glazing has to be clean and degreased, otherwise you will not press the mask down to the edge. Apply the paint in several thin layers. The inner masks additionally protect the cockpit against overspray when the model is being finished with the canopy closed. Take all the templates off shortly after the paint has dried, with tweezers and pulling along the edge, not straight up.
It is an accessory for a model, not a kit in its own right. The basic model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
