Eduard 1:48 Supermarine Spitfire Mk.I stencils is a decal sheet with technical and service lettering for models of the Spitfire Mk.I in 1:48 scale. These are not national insignia or personal markings.

This item is a stand-alone sheet of waterslide decals, not a model. The English word stencils here denotes the technical and service lettering that was sprayed through a template on the real aircraft: warning texts, the markings of filler necks and service openings, instructions for the ground crew, the marking of walking surfaces and similar small items. So these are not national insignia or personal and unit markings, as those are supplied in other sets. A separate sheet of lettering is popular because the decals supplied with kits tend to be the weakest link in this respect.
The Supermarine Spitfire Mk.I was a British single-engine fighter aircraft with an elliptical wing and a Rolls-Royce Merlin V12 engine, which entered service in the second half of the 1930s. The Mk.I version went through a series of modifications in a short time, from a wooden two-blade propeller to a three-blade variable-pitch one, and changes to the cockpit canopy and the armor. It is precisely on British machines of that time that the density of small service lettering is fairly low, but each item is all the more visible on a model and all the harder to paint by hand.
Small lettering is the most laborious thing that can be put on a model, so reckon on the application taking more time than the large insignia. Work over a gloss clear coat and trim the individual decals with a scalpel under a magnifier. The surest way to transfer them is a dampened pointed brush, not tweezers, which easily break the tiny film. Keep checking the position against the drawing; on a light ground dark lettering is unforgiving. Once dry, fix the decals with a gloss clear coat, and only then do the panel lines and finally the flat coat, as the opposite order will fog small lettering irretrievably.
