It serves to make a model match a specific production variant, because the turrets of the T-34/85 differed between individual factories and production batches in the execution of the casting, in its joints and in the placement of detail.
The T-34/85 was a later version of the famous Soviet medium tank, fitted with a larger cast turret for a crew of three and an 85 mm gun. It was built in enormous numbers and in several factories in parallel, which led to many small differences. The turret is the place where those differences are most clearly visible, whether in the shape of the casting, the run of the welds, or the position of the hatches and vision ports. For a modeler who wants to depict a specific machine at a specific time, the correct turret is therefore essential.
Before building, wash the part in warm water with detergent so that the remains from the mold are removed, and let it dry out properly. Cut off any casting block with a saw and level the lower surface on abrasive paper, so that the turret sits straight on the hull and can be turned. Try the seating of the turret in the hull dry until it fits. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Apply a primer before painting, which will also show up any bubbles or scratches to be sanded out. The rough surface of the casting can be brought out with a textured primer or by light stippling; Soviet cast turrets had a conspicuously uneven surface.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
