An injection-molded plastic kit of the American 2.5-ton 6x6 cargo truck in 1:48 scale from Tamiya. The model has a metal die-cast chassis for an easy and solid build, a well worked out cab with canvas texture and a removable roof that reveals the interior. A driver figure is included. It belongs to the range of 1:48 military miniatures and goes very well with aircraft dioramas. The American 2.5-ton 6x6 cargo truck, nicknamed the deuce and a half, was one of the key Allied supply vehicles. Hundreds of thousands were built and it served in every theater of the Second World War and in later conflicts. Drive to all three axles gave it excellent going across country and it became the backbone of supply; its role in the Red Ball Express convoys after the Normandy landings was famous.
First assemble and paint the chassis and the interior of the cab, and only then close the truck up. Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic. Lay down a primer and the paints with an airbrush, apply the decals over a gloss coat and bring out the recesses with a wash. Mud and dust pigments on the chassis and under the fenders give the vehicle the convincing look of front-line service.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
