A large-scale plastic kit (1:12) of the historic Italian Grand Prix racing car from the manufacturer Italeri. The model is among the more demanding projects, with rich equipment: an exposed engine block, working steering and an opening hood reveal the mechanics of the car, while wire (spoked) wheels and rubber tires supply the period atmosphere. The package combines injection-molded plastic with other materials (photo-etched parts, a decal sheet, masking templates and small accessories), which gives a detailed collector's model of respectable size.
The Fiat 806 of 1927 tends to be described as one of the very first single-seat Grand Prix cars and as the forerunner of the modern single-seater. It was powered by a twelve-cylinder engine of around 180 horsepower, with which the car reached speeds that were exceptional for its day. In its only start, in 1927, Pietro Bordino won with it in commanding style. It is a very rare and historically prized machine from the beginnings of the Grand Prix era.
Given the exposed areas, it pays to concentrate on the engine and the steering before the body is closed up. Use a thin cement for plastic and apply it sparingly, and cyanoacrylate on the photo-etched parts. Treat the base with a primer, spray the body with an airbrush to a smooth gloss and bring out the metal parts with shades of steel and brass. The wire wheels benefit from patient painting and light dry brushing to emphasize the spokes.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
