A sheet of waterslide decals in 1:48 scale focused on the aircraft of a US Navy Reserve air wing. The package contains the decal sheet only, that is, an accessory for marking a model that has already been built and painted; a kit is not part of it.
US Navy Reserve formations operated aircraft with their own system of markings, which differs from that of the machines of regular units: codes laid out differently, different identification markings on the tail surfaces and different lettering. Boxes with kits usually cover the markings of ordinary units, so reserve machines are practically impossible to build without a separate sheet.
American naval aircraft carry a great many small technical inscriptions and warning markings. These go on last, after the large insignia, and they call for sharp tweezers and a damp brush: dry tweezers will crush a tiny decal. Small pieces are soaked for a shorter time and are transferred onto the model together with a piece of the backing paper, from which they are then slid off with a brush. Once dry, it pays to look at the area in sharp side light: small inscriptions often settle crooked, and while they are still damp they can be moved.
This is a stand-alone decal sheet. The kit, paints and varnish are not included in the package.
