The resin accessory Eduard 1:48 WWII USAAF oxygen cylinder A-4 made by 3D printing. An oxygen cylinder for American aircraft of the Second World War, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A small but rewarding accessory from the production of the Czech company Eduard. It is an oxygen cylinder of the A-4 type, of the kind fitted into American aircraft during the Second World War, made by the technology of 3D printing in 1:48 scale. Printing manages curved surfaces, valves and securing straps with a sharpness that neither injection-molded plastic nor photo-etched metal will come close to. It is not a model of an aircraft but a detail for the interior of a kit you have already bought, or for a diorama with ground equipment.
Oxygen systems were basic equipment on machines operating at great altitudes, and in the fuselages of bombers and larger aircraft the cylinders were clearly visible. Kits, however, often deal with them only with a suggested relief or leave them out altogether. Eduard makes the types A-4 and A-6 and the G-1 tank separately, because they differed in shape and size. This accessory is the A-4 version. If you are building a model with the access panels open, a glazed center fuselage or a cutaway interior, separate cylinders will bring the space alive at once.
Cut the parts off the printing supports with a saw or a sharp scalpel, and never break them off. Level the remains of the supports with fine abrasive paper, ideally wet, so that no dust is raised. Before painting, wash the part in water with detergent and let it dry. It is glued exclusively with cyanoacrylate glue, as ordinary cement for plastic does not hold on resin. A primer makes the base, then paint according to the particular aircraft, a dark wash into the recesses and a light dry brush on the metal edges. A little wear on the securing straps and chipped paint in the places of contact with the structure make a big difference on such a small part.
It is an accessory part, not a kit. The basic model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
