An injection-molded plastic kit of the Westland Wyvern S.4 (early configuration) in 1:48 scale from Trumpeter.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the British carrier-borne strike aircraft Westland Wyvern S.4 in its early configuration, in 1:48 scale from Trumpeter. It is a sizeable model with a generous part count and fine engraved detail. The box contains plastic parts, clear canopy parts, a film instrument panel and decals. The early configuration differs from the later one in the older shape of the cockpit canopy.
The Westland Wyvern was a British carrier-borne strike aircraft and one of the last propeller-driven combat machines. It was an exceptionally large and powerful single-seat aircraft powered by a turboprop engine with a pair of contra-rotating propellers, which gave it a characteristically menacing look. Wyverns served with British naval aviation and saw action during the Suez operation in 1956, among other places.
Given the number of parts, work in subassemblies and with thin cement for plastic. Finish the cockpit with its film instrument panel before closing the fuselage. Pay particular attention to assembling and balancing the pair of contra-rotating propellers. Apply primer before varnishing and lay the colors on with an airbrush; on naval schemes, restrained weathering and highlighted panel lines work well.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
