This is a resin detail set in 1:48 scale from the Quickboost brand, not a stand-alone model of the airplane. The set replaces the exhaust stubs of the plastic kit with finely cast resin parts with hollow mouths. Once built in and painted it gives the engine area of a model a more realistic look.
The Yakovlev Yak-1 was a Soviet single-seat fighter of the early Second World War with mixed wood-and-metal construction and a V12 engine. It became the basis of the whole extensive family of Soviet Yak fighters and found use in large numbers on the Eastern Front. It was marked by good handling and simple maintenance.
Wash the resin parts free of mold release residue, cut off the casting blocks and glue them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Wear respiratory protection while sanding. Paint the mouths of the exhausts in shades of rust and burnt metal and pick them out with a dark wash.
This is a resin accessory for more experienced modelers, not a stand-alone model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
