The accessory holds a vacuum-formed clear cockpit canopy for a model of the Yokosuka MXY7 Ohka model 22. It is not a kit: it is a replacement part that steps in for the injected plastic canopy from the box. Film drawn over a mold has a markedly smaller wall thickness, so the glazing looks more realistic and does not distort the view into the cockpit.
An injected canopy has to have a certain minimum thickness because of the technology, and there tends to be optical distortion at the edges. A vacuum-formed part is as thin as real glazing in scale, which tells above all with an open cockpit, where the edge of the frame and the thickness of the material are both visible. The price for that is more demanding work: the part has to be cut out of the film and the seating edge sanded to fit precisely.
First go over the outline with a marker, then cut it out with scissors leaving a margin, and only after that sand it on a board with fine paper until the canopy seats on the model exactly. Work a little at a time and keep trying the fit. It is glued with clear glue for glazing or with an adhesive of the white dispersion type, which will not cloud the surface; super glue will fog a clear part. The frames are masked with narrow tape or a pre-cut mask and sprayed first in the interior color, then in the exterior shade.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
